HOW WOULD I KNOW IF ASSISTED LIVING IS RIGHT FOR MY MOM, DAD, OR LOVED ONE?

Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) are best suited for seniors who need assistance in their daily lives so as signs and symptoms begin to show, these are indicators that assistance may be necessary now or very soon.

Services are wide-ranging and include medication management, personal care, assistance with meals and eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, transportation,  recreation and exercise, assistance with scheduling appointments and more.

Our large property allows for a wide variety of entertainment.

We also offer all day dining for our residents.

The 2024 national median monthly cost of assisted living (based on a private, one bedroom room) is $4,917, according to Genworth’s 2024 Cost of Care Survey.

For the state of Florida the average monthly cost is $4,371.

Other factors do affect cost such as availability, location, amenities, and care options.

Assisted living residents and their families generally pay the cost of service through private financial resources, a personal Long-Term Care Insurance Plan and with the assistance of the VA Aid and Attendance Program

Medicare does not pay for assisted living; Medicare Part A covers hospitalization and Medicare Part B only offers reimbursement for covered services received by your physician.  If you have no savings, financial assets, and your income is low, you may qualify for government assistance or Medicaid, which is a federal program, but administered by each individual state. Medicaid covers medical benefits for low income citizens with few assets. Some states use a Medicaid Waiver program in which a set number of clients can be served so there may be a waiting list.

Most of our communities accept the Medicaid Waiver; please speak with one of our senior living advisors to guide you through this process.

Yes, even though federal laws impact assisted living, oversight of assisted living occurs at the state level. In Florida the state agency responsible for regulating assisted living is the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

In the State of Florida, all assisted living facilities must obtain and maintain a standard license from the Agency for Health Care Administration. In addition to the standard license, a facility may choose to apply for an Extended Congregate Care (ECC) license or a Limited Nursing Service’s License (LNS). At Angels Senior Living we have all of the above licenses in certain communities to better help your loved one age in place.

According to The National Center for Assisted Living the average age is 85.

HOW DO I GET MY LOVED ONE ADMITTED TO AN ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY?

First, choose the community that is right for your loved one. When you have made a decision let the community know that you are ready to review and sign the contract.  At this time, you will also need to ask their physician to complete a physical assessment form also known as FORM xxxx. We can send this to the physician for you or you may print download and complete it here.

Once it is completed by your loved one’s primary care physician you will submit it to the assisted living community that you have chosen. Once these steps are taken, all the documents are signed and any initial fees are paid, your loved one may move in when there is a vacancy.

At some places you do but not at Temple Terrace Assisted Living, our leases automatically renew every thirty days so if you need to relocate, we only require 30 days notice.
